HERE'S A NOTE FROM RON:

Ron Hughes is reminding all the homeowners that now is the time to start thinking about that lawn.   We are already seeing the Bermuda greens up on the course.   On or about March 15 would be a good time to apply a preemergent herbicide.   This will help control summer annual weeds such as Crabgrass and Goosegrass .   Around April 15, 2004 , would be a good time to make first fertilizer application on Bermuda and St. Augustine .   Delay about a month on centipede.   If you had that soil test done last fall, it will be your guide on what type fertilizer to use.   In the absence of a soil teat, use a fertilizer where the three numbers are in a 3-1-2 ratio, like 15-5-10 , or 18-6-12 .   Apply approx one pound of actual nitrogen per 1,000 square feet.   If I can be of assistance to anyone, please contact me at the course.   Ron
